Comments:
I got hooked on Belly Dance in 1994 and began my training with Julie Raber. I have been actively teaching the
dance for seven years through the Torrance Unified Adult School System, and now for Cheers Body and Mind in
Lomita, and for the L.A. County Recreation Center is San Pedro as well.
I am a choreographer, solo performer, troupe dancer, and perpetual student of the dance. I have studied under and
taken workshops with some of the best Belly Dancers in the business. I performed with a Belly Dance Troupe called
“Julliette’s Mid Eastern Review” for 6 years prior to directing a Belly Dance Troupe on my own. The Troupe is called
"Blossoms of the East”, and we perform in and around the South Bay (CA) area for Private, Public and Non Profit
Organizations.
I think Belly Dance gives women an avenue to discover their sensual self . It empowers them and improves their
self esteem. I have taught over 1,000 women in the past 7 years and have seen so many transform from a bud to a
beautiful blossom, full of life. For these reasons and many more, I am proud to be a part of the “New resurgence” of
one of the oldest dances in history.
Shimmy, shake and celebrate!
Love, Mara Lena
